After a lengthy period of unrest and uncertainty in the world, there is an undeniable feeling of optimism in the air, and I can only hope that this means great things for our industry, our businesses, and our people over the remainder of 2021.
One point of focus for the Nicsa team – one that certainly underpins optimism and pride among our members – is the Fearless Leadership Symposium. This inaugural event, the first and only national conference focusing on DEI issues specific to the fund industry, is set to take place on June 16-17. I encourage all members who are interested in advancing DEI and leveraging the business impact of inclusive leadership to register for this keystone event for the industry. Read the press release and check out our impressive lineup of speakers.
At the Symposium, Nicsa will also launch its Rising Star Program, providing mentorship, networking, and career development opportunities to diverse, aspiring leaders in the asset management industry. We are very excited to kickstart this meaningful way for Diversity Project North America members to celebrate and cultivate the next generation of diverse leaders. There have been numerous pieces of quality content coming out of the Diversity Project North America and I encourage you to check out the "In Case You Missed It" section below to review the offerings.
Over the past couple of months, Nicsa’s committees have been focused on bringing new perspectives on evolving topics to our membership. I’d like to highlight two pieces of research put forth recently, as well as to thank the Technology & Innovation Committee and Data Analytics Committee for their commitment to advancing best practices in the industry.
I’d like to take a moment to recognize one of our staff members, Kelly Sherrard, who was recently appointed Executive Director, Head of Operations & Events at Nicsa. As we further our mission to provide engaging and interactive forums for industry executives to collaborate and advance leading practices, Kelly brings a level of expertise and dedication that will go a long way toward our goals in 2021 and beyond. I hope you join me in congratulating Kelly. Read the press release.
In addition, since the beginning of 2021, we recently welcomed thirteen new Committee Chairs who will each help support Nicsa's mission. I’d like to thank these valued professionals, as well as those that are rolling off of Committee appointments, as their efforts are instrumental in advancing best practices in the industry we all serve. Lastly, the application period for the 2021-22 Nicsa/William T. Blackwell Scholarship Fund is now closed. We look forward to announcing the winners of this year’s scholarship awards in the coming weeks .
